With only a handful of local horses heading to Ruakaka and Hastings this Saturday, only a few gallops took place.

Working on a heavy No.4 grass, CURRENT SURGE looked ready to return to form with an encouraging 1200m. Although not after time, the Forsman trained gelding travelled well throughout in 1:23.4, finishing the last 600m in 40. He has had two runs on heavy ground this campaign. The better ground expected up North should assist his chances.

Stable mate ABEYANCE, who will also race at Ruakaka, left 800m behind in 54.6, the final 600m in 40.4. She is getting close to clearing maiden class.

Working on the sand, DAWN PARADE, who ran his best race this time in when finishing on strongly at Hastings last start, drew attention to his weekend chances with a nice 1000m in 1:9.7, home in 39.9.

AFTER PARTY ran the concluding 600m of an easy 1000m in 40.9.

AUBREE came in from the 800m in 56 and 42.1.

GINSBURG was sent 1200m, run in 1:24.2, home in 41.2.

ALMANZOR|LAZAAN and PROISIR|LADY LUCILLE were on terms throughout 600m in 41.4.

On the poly-track:

PACKING JOY looked fit for Ruakaka when completing 1000m in 1:9.9 and 41.9.

SACRED FALLS|FLIGHTIME, REAL IMPACT|ALSACE and ROC DE CAMBES|ANIMATE cut 600m out in 39.7.

PRINCE OF TALLIN was given an easy 1000m, the final 600m in 39.6.
